Gates, whether an existing fence needs taking down or removing, and photos if you have them.
Your indicative estimate is emailed to you as soon as you submit, and our team receives your project details so we can follow up.
Two different things, and it matters which one you’re looking at.

An indicative cost worked out from what you enter — fence length, material, style, height, gates, and whether an old fence has to come down. It is emailed to you when you submit, and it is free.

Site access, ground and soil conditions, slope, existing structures and exactly where the boundary sits. Any of these can move the real price up or down once someone has looked at the job.

Your project details come through to us with the estimate. Use the figure to set a budget and to sense-check any firm quote you are given before you commit to the work.

Fencing cost depends on the length of the fence, the material and style you choose, the fence height, whether you need gates, whether an existing fence has to be taken down and removed, site access, and where the property is. Rather than quote a range that may not fit your job, our fence cost calculator works the figure out from your own fence line. A firm price still depends on the specifics of the site.
The calculator works out your estimate as you complete it, and emails it to you as soon as you submit — filling in the form takes about two minutes. Your project details reach our team at the same time so we can follow up about the job itself.
No. The calculator produces an indicative estimate based only on the details you enter. It is designed to give you a realistic budget before committing to anything. A firm price can differ once the job has actually been looked at — access, ground conditions, slope and the exact boundary line all affect it. See why an estimate is not a final quote.
Yes. Run the calculator more than once against the same fence line to compare timber, Colorbond and picket, different heights, and with or without gates. Each run is free and there is no obligation. If you are also getting prices from tradespeople, use your estimate to sense-check them — the cheapest price is not always the best outcome.
You need the property address, the approximate fence length (you can mark it on the map or type it in), the fence type and style you want, the fence height, whether you need a single or double gate, and whether an existing fence needs taking down or removing. Photos of the existing fence are optional but help us understand the job.
Dividing-fence costs are commonly shared with the adjoining neighbour. How that is arranged is up to you — split the total, pay in full and be reimbursed, or agree something else. Cost-sharing rights and the notice you must give are set by state and territory legislation and vary considerably, so check the rules that apply where you live. This is general information, not legal advice.
Not yourself. The calculator includes taking down and removing an existing fence as a priced option, so it is costed into your estimate rather than left as a surprise. Fencing Quotes Online uses an eco-friendly removal company, Eco-Chipping, to keep old timber fences out of landfill.
You will normally need to clear the fence line before work starts — typically around 60 cm on both sides — unless clearing has been included in the job.
It depends on your council, your fence height and where the fence sits on your property. Front boundary fences and taller fences are the most likely to need approval, and pool fencing must meet separate safety compliance rules in every state. Your contractor can tell you what applies to your job, but confirm the requirements with your local council before work begins.
Enter your address, choose your fence, and we’ll email your indicative estimate as soon as you submit — free, and with no obligation.
